Things to Do Outdoors in Branson MO

Hiking

The Ozark Mountain Region is gorgeous, and Branson offers a variety of easy-to-moderate hikes. Trek into the woods, around lakes, beside overlooks, and through glades. You’ll see a variety of wildlife (turkey, fox, lizards, bald eagles, deer, etc.) and view natural beauty in the streams, hills, and waterfalls. Check out the following trails: Mark Twin National Forest, Piney Creek Wilderness, Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery Trail, Tablerock Lakeshore Trail, Stockstill Park Walking Path, and Hercules Glades.

Biking

If you’d rather see the Ozarks on two wheels (as opposed to two feet), why not find a bike trail? Some are strenuous, and others are relaxing. Race through Branson on one of the following trails: Busiek Forest, Table Rock Lakeshore Trail, Dogwood Canyon, White River Valley Trail System, Chadwick/Cobb Ridge Trails, and Shadowrock Park Trail.

Geocaching

Geocaching, if you’ve never heard of it, is an outdoor activity in which players use a GPS or mobile device to find a “geocache” (a container, which often contains a logbook of successful geocachers and dates). It’s almost like a modern-day treasure hunt! To join in on the fun, check out this list of Branson geocaches.

Moonshine Beach

On the shore of Table Rock Lake, you’ll find Moonshine Beach: one of the best things to do outdoors in Branson MO on a warm summer day. This sandy beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, picnics, and volleyball. This is a great place to to spend a lazy summer day, especially if you have young children who will enjoy playing in the sand and water. Note: The sand fades into rocks the further out you get, so you might want to bring some water shoes.

White Water

Missouri can get terribly hot in the summer, so if your family needs to cool off, spend a day at White Water. This water park includes 13 acres of rides and slides, including the brand new ride Kapau Plummet (which features dueling 245-foot slides). There are rides, slides, and pools aplenty, as well as events like “Dive-In Movies” on Friday nights and fireworks on Saturday nights.
