Do you spend too much time reading restaurant reviews? When planning your next vacation, do you get most excited about the food? Is your dream job to be a food critic? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might be a foodie. To help you get the most out of your Branson vacation, we’ve compiled a list of foods to try in Branson. Bon appétit!

Foods to Try in Branson

Breakfast at Sugar Leaf Bakery and Cafe

Whether you’ve decided to sleep in and enjoy your cozy cabin or you’ve already been on a morning walk, kick off the rest of your day with a visit to Sugar Leaf Bakery and Cafe. If you’re feeling a little European, go with their signature quiche, which is filled with egg-based custard and layered with a variety of fillings. The quiche fillings change each day. If you have any food allergies, just contact the cafe at 417-336-6618 to check which fillings are in the quiche of the day. For those who prefer more of a traditional breakfast, you can’t go wrong with bacon, eggs, and toast. The cafe is best known for its decadent sweets, so don’t leave empty-handed. Take a cookie or slice of cake to-go, or go ahead and eat it for breakfast. You make the rules on your vacation! For lunch, Sugar Leaf Bakery and Cafe also serves award-winning chili and hot panini sandwiches served on housemade bread.

ALTERNATIVE: While we love Sugar Leaf Bakery and Cafe, if you’re in the mood for pancakes, be sure to stop by BillyGail’s Cafe. A popular breakfast spot, BillyGail’s is known for its enormous pancakes, which are so huge, they barely fit on the plate! Be sure to check out the country store attached to the restaurant for souvenirs and local craft goods.

A Mediterranean Lunch at Vasken’s Deli

Among the locals, Vasken’s Deli is famous for its gyros. Among the tourists, the restaurant is hardly known at all, which makes it the perfect place to escape the crowds.  The Haroutounian family has been serving their family recipes to the Branson community since 1997. For indecisive diners who want to try it all, the combo platter is a great place to start. The appetizer comes with pita bread, hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, falafel, tahini, tzatziki dip, feta cheese, olives, and tomatoes. To get an authentic experience, go with Vasken’s signature gyro, which is a combination of lamb and beef cooked on a rotating spit. It is served in pita bread with tzatziki sauce, green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. If you want to take a souvenir home, the restaurant also features a small shop with jam, cookies, coffee, and other treats.

ALTERNATIVE: Hankering for some BBQ? Danna’s BBQ and Burger Shop, a family-owned restaurant, offers some of the best smoked meats in town. Stop by one of their two locations in Branson for some of the best foods to try in Branson, including mouthwatering pulled pork and beef as well as scrumptious beans, crunchy coleslaw, and Memphis rolls.

Dinner and a Show at Dolly Parton’s Stampede

Some things just seem to go together, like peanut butter and jelly – or dinner and a show! Attend a show at Dolly Parton’s Stampede and enjoy exciting entertainment with a hearty meal. The show features thirty-two horses and riders, music, dancing, and special effects. Watch on the edge of your seat as the performers thrill you with daring tricks and competitions. During the show, you’ll be served a delicious meal of comfort foods like country chicken and creamy soup. If you can’t get enough of the rich taste, you can even purchase a bag of the soup mix and a bottle of the chicken seasoning to take home.

ALTERNATIVE: Prefer fine dining? You can’t go wrong with the Keeter Center, a stunning restaurant at the College of the Ozarks that’s run by hard-working, highly trained students. Don’t worry – this is not a school cafeteria. It’s a farm-to-table dining experience that promises high-quality food and exceptional service.
