FREE (OR VERY INEXPENSIVE) ATTRACTIONS
- Branson Landing and its Fountain Show. If you can set a strict budget on souvenirs and just enjoy window shopping, stop by Branson Landing. It’s a great area to explore, especially since it borders Lake Taneycomo. Be sure to check out the fountain show at night.
- Table Rock Lake. You don’t need to pay a cent to enjoy the great outdoors! Check out the lake’s hiking trails, fishing docks, and swimming. You could also rent a boat or bike for a small fee.
- The Bass Pro Shop. It might seem illogical to mention a (sometimes pricey) store when we’re giving tips to do Branson on a budget, but Bass Pro Shop is special. If you have children or you’re interested in outdoor activities, do yourself a favor and check out Bass Pro. There are fish tanks, turtle tanks, mounted animals, and many elaborate exhibits.
- Dewey Short Visitor Center. Located near Table Rock Dam, this newly-built visitor center includes an interactive map of the area, beautiful wall murals, and exhibits about the area’s history and wildlife.
- Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery. This hatchery raises and releases trout for Lake Taneycomo. If you visit, you can take a self-guided tour, check out the exhibits to learn more about trout, and view the fish. There are also three miles of hiking trails that traverse forests and glades.
MONEY-SAVING TIPS
- Consider purchasing groceries and staying at a cabin or condo, so that you don’t have to splurge on every meal.
- When you see brochures around town or in the visitor’s center, pick them up for the coupons. Also, check out Groupon‘s Branson offerings.
- If you plan to visit Silver Dollar City more than once this year, purchase a season ticket to save money. Season passes are currently $108 for adults and $98 for children. One-day tickets are $65 for adults and $54 for children. If you’ll also be visiting White Water as well, consider a three-day two-park pass. For more information, click here. - Avoid Branson during Christmastime and mid-summer if you want to save money. Your best bets are spring, late summer, or early fall.
