Nobody likes to see storm clouds approaching when they’re on vacation, but don’t let a little bad weather spoil your trip! Attractions like the lake and Silver Dollar City might make this city look like a strictly outdoors vacation spot, but you’d be surprised by all the great things to do in Branson on a rainy day. To make it easier on you, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites . . .
Things to Do in Branson on a Rainy Day
Catch a matinee.
You likely already know how big the shows are here in Branson—maybe seeing a show is already on your itinerary! If you’re looking for something to do indoors during the day, keep in mind that many Branson shows offer matinee times. Kid-friendly shows are sure to please, like Amazing Pets, Taylor Reed Master Illusionist, and—if you’re in town for the holidays—Christmas Wonderland. Or, wait out the rain at #1 Hits of the 50s and 60s Too, voted the best matinee show two consecutive years.
See wildlife up close at The Butterfly Palace.
Experience the outdoors even when you’re stuck indoors! Branson’s Butterfly Palace gives you the chance to see live reptiles, amphibians, and over 1,000 species of tropical butterflies. Engaging and unique, The Butterfly Palace is a great stop for any group. Visit their website for more information.
Soak up some culture at one of Branson’s museums.
Branson has plenty to offer here!
- Home to over one million toys, the World’s Largest Toy Museum will wow you and inspire nostalgia. Here, you can see playthings from the 1800s to recent years. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this one!
- You can pose with some of your favorite celebrities at the Hollywood Wax Museum! Whether you want to see stars from decades ago or the ones you know now, you’ll find them at this museum.
- Branson’s Titanic Museum amazes visitors with a lifelike replica of the ship itself. See real artifacts from the museum, feel for yourself what the icy waters felt like, and pose as a real passenger or crew member, discovering your person’s fate at the end of the self-guided tour.
- One of the city’s newer museums, the Branson Auto and Farm Museum is “dedicated to the appreciation and preservation of historic automobiles.” See transportation from the late 1800s and early-to-mid twentieth century here—many of the vehicles are available for purchase!
Splash around at Castle Rock Waterpark.
Had your heart set on swimming before the rain hit? Worry not—Castle Rock’s indoor waterpark offers day passes! You may not be able to catch sun rays here, but everyone in the group will have a blast splashing around. Castle Rock offers multiple waterslides, a lazy river, activity pools for kids, and a regular swimming pool. The park is always open on weekends, but their weekday schedule varies. You’ll want to check their calendar before heading over.
